RE: Wireless outside thermometer. Where to put it???

pqed
Mine is attached to the depression in the wall under the main slideout; works fine, is dry and out of the sun's heat...

RE: Gas caps-- locking gas caps

Folks
I replaced my issue caps with locking ones because there are people in this world with a funny sense of humor that think adding something to the fuel is a riot - this includes jealous people, teenagers and pissed truck drivers... I may be paranoid but

RE: What is this thing in my rv?

Hideout
You have no imagination - this is a patented, multi-roll, toilet paper roll holder. We discontinued using ours because it took too much time rewinding the paper rolls onto the bar... in addition, it kept getting in the way while sitting on the necessary.

RE: Help!! First Time RV'r.... Can't get generator to crank

RemiDog
Maybe a common mistake - most gensets have a fuel warmer for use during colder times. Please read your owners mnanuel; for a cold start my diesel genset requires that I hold the start switch IN until the preheater allows cranking and startup. Try it.

RE: No Room at the Inn

Folks
I do not understand all the brouhaha, we have had no problem finding a campground to stay the night in. Please support the campground owners by staying at their facilities - if you cheap them out of business, where will you stay when you need them.
I am much more concerned about the cost and availability of diesel fuel; it is much more expensive than a night's stay at a campground...

RE: Batteries cancelled my outing

Ready...
This may be a foolish question but are you aware that the genset will NOT charge your chassis battery - it only charges by running the engine. Also, you should have two battery shutoffs, one for the house and one for the chassis (engine). I suspect that you have not fully charged the chassis battery and a parasitic load has drawn it down.
I recommend that you switch off all batteries when your coach is not in use. If I have to work on or around my coach, I switch on only the house battery. This works for me and my batteries are 41/2 years old (also Allience)...

RE: Winterize MotorHome

Whatever you do, don't forget winterizing the washer/dryer. The replacement hoses are expensive. I made the mistake of blowing out the lines then running anti-freeze throughout the plumbing system - I forgot that my wife keeps the hot and cold taps to the WD shut between uses. Bingo, frozen and split hose connectors. So keep the taps open and verify that antifreeze is coming thru....

RE: Hydralic Levelers won't raise after use

Tim
I wouldn't use oil on the jack tubes as dirt and dust will mix with the oil and you may end up with the jacks sticking; for the past four years I have spritzed my jack tubes with a heavy duty silicone and the jacks have not hesitated coming up. Thank me later...

RE: New tire buying

Folks
I will suggest that, as a condition of purchase, the tire dealer certify (on the sales slip) that the new tires are ALL less one year old from the date of manufacture and unused... If they are unwilling to provide this certification, go elsewhere.

RE: Rear jack not retracting all the way

FireGuard
The silicon treatment appears to be the solution of choice. When we winter for a four month period, I silicon the jacks once per month. I raise the coach and spray the piston all around and then raise them all the way up andd then relevel. This has done the trick for four years - nary a hitch...

RE: Diesel Pusher Stop Engine or Leave Running

FYI
I have an '04 330 Cat. My book calls for a 3 minute cool-down after running on an interstate (or high speed road). I found a nifty 3 minute egg timer which I velcro to a cup holder. Just pull loose and invert... Keep itg simple folks. Ta

RE: Cracked Windshield

Gazelle05
Got a small pock/crack last month. Had it fixed in Las Cruces by a Mobile repair service - $35 and he did a great job; you have to really look close to see the repair. I am more than happy...
